A big thank you to all of you for making this year’s Summer Fayre a great success. We managed to raise a staggering £2,016.34 !
It’s that time of the year again – Summer Fayre time - when we can all come together and celebrate our wonderful school community.
Sports Day Reminder
It is hard to believe that the school year is shortly coming to an end and that we will be saying goodbye to our Year 6 children soon.
This week all of the children have been finding out more about each other!
You will be aware that we are having our Summer Fayre on 2nd July from 5pm to 8pm. To make it an extra special day our Chef is planning a special Seaside Menu for lunch.
Last half term Mrs Hawker and Mrs Shipley ran a Dads and Lads club called ‘It’s a Man Thing’ every other Wednesday evening, which was a great success
Our ‘new style’ class photos have arrived and a proof copy accompanies this letter.
Our Summer Fayre is on Friday 2nd July. The gates on Chetwynd Road will open at 5pm and close at 8pm.
In the meantime I will be running a Kwik Cricket club until the end of the school academic year in July
Newsletter - After a week and a half in China Mr Robins has returned, avoiding ash clouds and industrial action!
Tesco have now finished giving out their latest promotion vouchers
As you will know, Years 5 and 6 will be performing their version of Grease at the end of term.
We have just been informed that we have managed to secure tickets to take our Years 5 and 6 to the Royal Concert Hall .
As the summer approaches and we look forward to warmer weather we would like to remind you that children’s skin is very sensitive to the sun
We are pleased to inform you that we have organised a visit to Twycross Zoo for the Foundation Unit
As part of our work on Sex and Health Education, Michelle Brown, our School Nurse, will be delivering lessons to our Year 6 pupils on personal hygiene and sex education.
Our visit to Sherwood Forest is on Tuesday 11th May, during the school day

Welcome back to the start of a busy and exciting Summer Term. We hope you all had a nice Easter.
To further prepare our Year 6 children for their SATs in May, at the request of the children, we will be running a weekly maths booster session after school

On Friday 23rd April we are having a St George’s Day celebration in school
Our new topic for after Easter is going to be ‘Robin Hood’ which will involve historical work on Castles, a design and technology project as well as lots of Literacy and Numeracy work.
As we get ready for the Easter break I would like to express my gratitude to everyone for a fantastic term
The time is approaching for us to organise our school swimming programme for 2010-2011, in partnership with the Local Authority School Swimming Service.
We are pleased to inform you that, following our recent inspection, the school has been judged as ‘Good’ overall; an achievement we are all very proud of.
Extended Football Coaching
We are delighted to inform you that, once again, we are organising Residential Trips for all our Key Stage 2 children, in the new academic year.
You will be aware that we had to postpone our visit to Attenborough Nature Reserve
We have been making progress with the school garden! Thanks largely to the efforts of Mr Rayatt and with the help of other volunteers, we now have raised beds (which are ready to use) and bark-covered paths for all weather access.
We are now in the process of putting together orders for milk for the Summer term 2010 for our Key Stage 2 pupils

Next week is National Science and Engineering Week and to help encourage the children to become mad about Science and keen scientists we will be celebrating this event in school with a whole week of activities
We are writing to tell you about an exciting Chemistry Day planned for our pupils in Year 5 and 6
Thank you to all parents for your overwhelming support during our recent Ofsted inspection and to all our children who showed themselves off to their very best and represented the school so well.
We have therefore decided to postpone our planned visit to Attenborough Nature Reserve. A new date will be arranged, and we will let you know this as soon as we can

Each term different year groups in school are raising money as an Enterprise project for school funds. It is now the turn of the Year One and Two children
The next fundraising event being organised by the Friends of Chetwynd Road is a Beetle Drive which will take place on Friday, 5th March 2010 from 6.30- 8.30pm
Thank you to the Friends of Chetwynd for organising ‘Cake Friday’ on 29th January. It was a roaring success and demand out-stripped supply!!

For those of you who haven’t yet heard, we are delighted to inform you that Miss Zuzarte had a beautiful baby girl
Our topic for the next half term is ‘Attenborough and Living Things’. As part of this project we will be visiting Attenborough Nature Reserve and Sherwood Forest , incorporating our theme for after Easter which is ‘Robin Hood’
Later in the Spring Term we’re hoping to put on a series of early evening sessions for ‘dads’ and their boys in Foundation and Key Stage 1
Our Chef, Mr Giakalis, is going to cook a special Valentine’s Day Dinner at school on Friday 12th February
Cakes (provided by the Friends of Chetwynd Road) will be on sale in the playground at the end of the day on 29th January.

Chetwynd Road has secured the fantastic opportunity for 30 of our Year 6 children to play a key role in Nottinghamshire’s Chinese New Year celebrations

I am writing to inform you that we are very lucky to have obtained the expertise of a recently retired piano teacher who is willing to teach singing to our pupils
The children in Miss Tilbury’s and Miss Baggley’s classes will begin their swimming lessons at Bramcote Baths on Friday 23rd October
The lunchtime behaviour at school is very good but the School Council has identified this as something we could get even better at.
On Monday, the children watched a short video in a whole school assembly about ‘Operation Christmas Child’
